Executive Summary

As part of the Terms and Conditions of Employment at Curtin University of Technology, eligible employees are offered the opportunity to negotiate the structure of their remuneration to best suit their own financial and personal circumstances.

The University has established a Flexible Remuneration Program, more commonly referred to as Salary Packaging, enabling eligible employees to take advantage of Commonwealth legislation that allows individuals to reduce their income tax.

Whilst the University commends the Program to employees, it should be emphasised that participation in the Program is strictly on a voluntary basis.

The University´s standard Salary Packaging practices are set out in this Guide and it is the University´s policy to apply these practices to all eligible employees.

CURTIN UNIVERSITY WILL ALWAYS DECIDE THE COMBINATION OF SALARY AND BENEFITS TO BE MADE AVAILABLE TO EMPLOYEES, ALTHOUGH THE WISHES OF EMPLOYEES WILL BE TAKEN INTO CONSIDERATION. EMPLOYEES ARE NOT ENTITLED TO DIRECT THE UNIVERSITY ON HOW THEY WILL BE REMUNERATED.
